Chairman Area Board, M. Elmer Christensen. Attended schools in Murray, Utah and the University of Utah receiving a B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1923. Served as Utah State Chemist for 35 years. President of two national professional associations and was a member of the American Chemical Society since 1934. Served as chairman of the Utah section of ACS in 1937 and as a member of the Granite District Board of Education for 16 years. Recognized as "Man of the Year" in Utah Education in 1962, chairman of the Salt Lake Technical College in Utah Education in 1962, chairman of the Salt Lake Technical College and member of the LDS Hospital Board of Trustees. Born Sept. 13, 1902 in Manassa, Colorado to Martin and Louisa Mauss Christensen. Died June 17, 2002. Married Melba Morgan August 14, 1929 in the Salt Lake Temple. George William Ashton
Description
George W. Ashton was a Salt Lake City contractor and member of the Salt Lake City Board of Education. He served an LDS mission in the Eastern States under B. H. Roberts (1920-1923). Horace J. Gunn served in the US Army in Europe during World War II, and subsequently in the US Army Reserve. After 20 years of military service he retired with the rank of Major. His career spanned a wide variety of employment: "sheep herder," high school teacher, army officer, salesman, public relations director at the Utah State Highway Department, and executive director of Associated General Contractors for 23 years. Upon retirement, he was appointed to the Institutional Council of Utah State University for which he served as chairman for one year. Digitization completed with funds from a 2017 USHRAB (Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board) Grant that was awarded to Salt Lake Community College, Library Services.

The recently acquired building to become a new addition to Salt Lake Community College campuses. Overall, SLCC has one of the most diverse college populations in the state, with 34% students of color. But West Valley Center campus — one of 10 at the school — is also the only one in Utah to sit in West Valley City, which has a unique “minority majority” of residents. Nearly 50,000 Latinos call this city home, according to the most recent U.S. census estimates.
