Exhausted PFC (private first class) James F. Duro of Boston, an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips, lies by a canal dike in swampland of the Mekong Delta about 20 miles west of Saigon near Bao Trai Tuesday. An hour earlier Duro had been in the midst of an artillery bombardment fired by mistake by friendly forces on the U.S. position. After a day of battling Viet Cong forces he saw comrades killed and wounded by both the enemy and the misdirected artillery fire. Duro is with "C" Company, 173rd Airborne Brigade.
