Cast Of The Mikado
The Mikado; or, The Town of Titipu is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert, their ninth of fourteen operatic collaborations. It opened on 14 March 1885, in London, where it ran at the Savoy Theater for 672 performances, which was the second longest run for any work of musical theater and one of the longest runs of any theater piece up to that time. Before the end of 1885, it was estimated that, in Europe and America, at least 150 companies were producing the opera. Chairman Area Board, M. Elmer Christensen. Attended schools in Murray, Utah and the University of Utah receiving a B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1923. Served as Utah State Chemist for 35 years. President of two national professional associations and was a member of the American Chemical Society since 1934. Served as chairman of the Utah section of ACS in 1937 and as a member of the Granite District Board of Education for 16 years. Recognized as "Man of the Year" in Utah Education in 1962, chairman of the Salt Lake Technical College in Utah Education in 1962, chairman of the Salt Lake Technical College and member of the LDS Hospital Board of Trustees. Born Sept. 13, 1902 in Manassa, Colorado to Martin and Louisa Mauss Christensen. Died June 17, 2002. Married Melba Morgan August 14, 1929 in the Salt Lake Temple.
