Here is a photo taken by a Marine in 1969. "Marine artillery units fired 105mm projectiles at random places and at random times throughout the night. Targets were plotted as stream and river junctions and trail junctions. On a patrol this Marine came across a camp fire with 3 or 4 dead North Vietnamese soldiers, their bodies deteriorated already who had been killed my one of these random H&I fires. (Harassment & Interdiction) This program was to keep invading units from the North off-balance and that there was never any secure area within range of the Marine artillery guns." Vietnam Veteran.
